Responsibilities:
We’re looking for an exceptional Ruby developer who is well versed in building highly complex web and backend applications to join as a senior developer. As a senior developer, you will use your expertise in designing and building platform components to create scalable, robust solutions, while still maintaining simplicity and elegance in your approach. You will help develop new features and also work on the redesign / refactoring of our current platform. Candidates must have a strong technical background and aptitude, solid development skills in Ruby, Rails 3, PostgreSQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript (jQuery) and GIT source control. Additional experience in other languages such as Java and C is a bonus. We are looking for problem solvers with a ‘get things done’ attitude
Requirements:
Skills:
Solid Ruby, Rails 3, HTML, CSS and Javascript skills.
Git / Github for version control.
PostgreSQL (writing stored procedures, triggers etc… using PL/pgSQL) + PostGIS experience.
Be able to demonstrate ability via previous work (online portfolio).
Ability to prioritize and make decisions without needing to be micromanaged.
Strong communication skills; verbal and written.
Ability to pick things up fast. Be able to problem solve and self-teach.
Experience with Solr / Lucene.
Experience designing REST based APIs.
Bonus Points:
Experience using PAAS infrastructure (EC2, S3, Heroku).
Proficient in Java or C.
Experience using Hadoop, Apache Mahout.
Prior experience developing large projects from start to finish.
Experience architecting web, mobile and API services for scale, performance and availability (Service Orientated Architecture).
