I. SUMMARY:
The Controller position is responsible for the day to day local Finance functions related to the operation of the Manila location. This includes managing a Senior Accountant position. The role is responsible for Payroll, GL, Payables, Fixed Assets and special projects as assigned, including process improvements.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General Ledger
Percent of time spent in this area 60%
Results:
Responsible for the day to day management of a GL in Peach Tree software in coordination with the Sr Accountant
Ensure that all GL activities are booked in accordance to GAAP
Oversee the timely and accurate completion of month end close and reporting as required
Review/analyze all cost centre or PL spend vs plan and/or fcst and provide required Mgmt reporting including commentary to Sr Mgmt
Review Balance Sheet account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items
Prepare/analyze month end accruals as required
Oversee the annual and quarterly preparation of audit schedules as required by World Wide
Assist the Country Manager with the preparation of annual plans including updated forecasts
Responsible for the development, recommendation and implementation of approved changes to any Accounting processes and procedures
Manage a Sr Accountant
Special projects as assigned
2. Payroll/Banking
Percent of time spent in this area 25%
Results:
Responsible for the timely preparation of all activities related to the issuance of Payroll $ to the associates
Ensure that all required local taxation laws are followed, including the appropriate withholding and subsequent submission of $ to the government
Responsible for all activities related to Benefits and the Administration of them
Includes the tracking of PTO accruals and usage
Work with the Corporate Treasury team to ensure appropriate funding to the local banking facility is in place as required
All required reporting as needed
3. Expense Payables
Percent of time spent in this area 10%
Results:
Responsible for the timely accounting for all non-inventory transactions and related issues
Prepare any necessary month end accruals when required
All required reporting related to Expense Payables
4. Fixed Assets
Percent of time spent in this area 5%
Results:
Responsible for the timely accounting for all local Fixed Asset transactions
Review and approve AFCE’s prior to submission
Responsible for spend tracking vs AFCE approved plans
All required reporting related to Fixed Assets
Requirements:
1. Formal education or training required such as degrees, courses of study, certification:
Bachelor’s Degree, focused on Accounting or Finance
CPA an added asset
2. Previous work experience required for a new hire in this position:
The ideal candidate will have 1yr+ in a prior Controller capacity
Will consider 5 yrs+ experience in a Sr Accountant or Finance Manager capacity
Prior significant experience managing GL and Payroll specifically
Consideration will me made for public/private experience
2+yrs experience Supervising a direct report in a Finance setting
Prior experience in SAP & Peach Tree Accounting an asset
3. Summary of the minimum kinds of knowledge, skills and abilities required to do this job:
A. Knowledge of:
Solid understanding of GAAP
Solid understanding of Philippine Payroll and Taxation rules
Working knowledge of monthly, quarterly and year end close procedures, end to end
B. Skill in:
Communications
Proven Ability to maintain professional relationships internal/external
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to advise management and staff of status on work and potential issues
Interpersonal
Proven ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization
Proven ability to effectively manage all levels of staff including mentoring / development of associates
Computer
Mainframe experience, SAP is an asset
PC literate; Advanced levels in Excel and Word, experience with data warehouse information and Access a plus
C. Ability to:
Proven ability to resolve complex problems with minor direction from the NA Controller
Proved ability to achieve results through the motivation or influencing of others
Thrives in a fact paced environment
Proven management skills
Excellent written and verbal presentation skills

D. Other aspects of the job that are relevant such as ability to travel as a requirement.
Flexibility to work afternoon/night shift, approximately 5pm-2am (TBD)
Ability to receive a US or Canadian business visa, no prior legal concerns
Availability to travel to North America if required
