Responsibilities:
The position serves as the primary engineering interface to the customer and supports as Solutions Architect for the design of customer's Voice infrastructure consisting of Trader voice (Turrets – BT, IPC, Speaker Bus), PBX (Avaya, Nortel) technology, IPT (Cisco, Avaya), conversion from TDM to IP trunking and/or PBX to IPT design & migration. Performs complex engineering for the Global Engineering Services organization and possesses a broad knowledge of overall Verizon Operations and Technology principles, processes, and procedures. Position requires independent thinking and demands full use and application of principles, theories and concepts of IP technologies. Work closely with Vz sales teams and customers in meeting the IP technology requirements for the Verizon customer. Provide technological vision for network evolution, serve as the Engineering Team leader and ensure information is flowing to engineering resources assigned to project, micro level project management for engineering requirements and responsibilities, design and deploy state-of-art technology to meet the customer’s business needs, interface to the customer regarding technical planning and network issues, forecast and plan resource allocation, direct interface to the customer on advanced design solutions, develop white papers for designs specific to the customers’ network inclusive of Verizon Business solutions and matrix manage engineering resources in other parts of the organization as needed.
Requirements:
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree , Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), Engineering (Electrical/Electronic), Computer Science/Information Technology or Masters Degree or equivalent.
At least 4 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
Vendor certifications: Avaya PBX administration, Avaya Call Management, Avaya ACD, CCIE voice, CCVP minimum.
The Voice Architect should have an advanced knowledge and diverse skills in technologies & multiple vendors (for example: Avaya, IP Telephony, Trader Voice, IVR)to include design and architecture of various platforms, and needs to be master in IPT, Turret systems, & PBX Voice technology environments.
Possess an in-depth knowledge of voice network architecture and design disciplines, operational support familiarity, previous and current extensive hands-on implementation, and thorough configuration knowledge and capabilities for all platform levels.
Have very strong customer interfacing background, as well as superior oral and written communication skills.
Extensive technical writing skills are a requirement, and in depth knowledge of IP Telephony and IP PBX, and transport.
Candidate must be able to work independently and on multiple projects/activities concurrently.
Disciplined and oriented in practice of and adherence to process and procedures.
Key attributes include the ability to research technical issues and develop solutions, strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal skills, and good organizational skills.
Must be achievement orientated and possess problem solving skills including conceptual and analytical thinking.
Needs to be capable of working on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
Possess ability of exercising judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Must be knowledgeable in Ticketing System, Monitoring and peer discussion in planning.
Must also be open for shifting schedules.
