The Institute is the entity that builds and manages online and in-person activities and meetings. The Institute is also founded to keep the user activities focused on the user. There are plenty of vendor-run activities and commercial resources on the market. This Institute is founded to maintain user focus and sharing about the technology.

Somebody has to get things started, right? The Institute is founded by an independent VoIP consultant and expert in IP contact center, Ms. Peggy Gritt. Ms. Peggy Gritt, CEO and founder of the Voice over IP Institute has seventeen years’ experience in converged voice and data applications. Her career started years ago with a government/education/business partnership to put computers with modems in students’ homes in five schools and that was before the Internet! She went from there to a VAR where she installed voice response systems (like bank by phone and university registration by phone). She then moved into computer-telephony project management and discovered just how hard it is to integrate phone systems with your business processes. That was eleven years ago. Next she spent over ten years launching and managing products at Interactive Intelligence - the first company to adopt SIP for its IP PBX and IP contact center solutions. Her exposure to multi-channel contact center applications and launching complex software-based IP PBX products means she understands the realities of customer deployments with SIP and voice over IP. She was Sr. Director of Product Marketing at Interactive Intelligence prior to leaving to found her own company. Her career has always been dedicated to innovation and embracing new technologies.

The VoIP Institute provides analysis and workshops on VoIP technology and related subjects such as disaster recovery, VoIP security and VoIP planning and deployment.
