Answer Services NZ Limited (Answers) was established in 1964 by principal and director Colin Devine. The company was established primarily as a Telephone Answering Service to the business sector initially in the Wellington area. Today Answers have branches in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

In 1968 Answers recognised the potential for "pocket pagers" imported from Motorola ex United States a small trial paging network and proceded to test these early units in the Wellington area.

Tests successfully completed, Answers then applied to the New Zealand Post Office for a license to establish their "paging" network. The New Zealand Post Office at the time denied Answers application for the license on the grounds that the New Zealand Post Office were in fact looking to establish their own network and would provide the services required.

In 1981 the New Zealand Post Office established their network which has developed into what we know today. This network is now run by Telecom New Zealand Limited.

Maintaining that forward momentum Answers in 1989 invested heavily in one of the first call centre systems available in New Zealand. The Startel 5700 Ex Irvine California USA represented a technology with "pop screen" client personalisation and its state of the art reporting capabilities. As a result Answers today, is one of New Zealand's largest Outsourced Contact Centre service providers and continues to seek new opportunities to enhance its market development. In 1998 Answers through a major reinvestment in "Startel's" state of the art telecommunication platforms further reinforced its position as a leader in the National Contact Centre market. This investment signalled Answers confidence and commitment to maintaining unequalled growth of both services and efficiencies to its existing and prospective client base.
