More and more companies are hiring individuals who have high speed internet connection, dedicated phone line, and can follow simple instructions. It is now time to entertain the idea of working in the comforts your home while earning extra cash.
Wouldn’t it be comfortable to work in your pajamas? There are several companies today who prefer to maintain home based call centers because of its low labor and maintenance costs. There companies can even provide you with the necessary tools and resources to get you started to work as a customer service agent from your home.
Not everybody who has high speed internet service and dedicated phone line can be a home based call center agent. Most companies who hire home based agents are based abroad and cater to international clients. Like most international call center settings here in the Philippines, you still need to be excellent in English, you need to be articulate, and most important of all, you must have a noise friendly environment. Meaning, you still need to present a positive and professional atmosphere to work in. You cannot be receiving calls while your dog is barking in the background or the baby you are holding is crying.
A lot of home based work opportunities have been sprouting lately – from freelance writing jobs to answering customer calls in a call center setting.
Freelancing means you do not have a fixed weekly or monthly income. However, if you opt to work in a home based call center, chances are you will be a getting a fixed salary. Depending on what you and your employer agree upon, you can get a fixed amount each week or each month.
If these companies still maintain a main call center in an office setting, they would definitely want their home based call center agents to be up to par with their office based counterparts. They will provide training opportunities and other benefits; add in to that bonuses and incentives, just like any other regular office job.
For freelance writing jobs, working at home is easier since you can write at your own pace and work anytime when convenient for you. However, a call center at home is another story. If you decide to work for a BPO company based in the United States or United Kingdom, it is most definite that you will need to be working at night because of the time difference.
It is much like working in an international call center, only this time you will be doing it from home. There are pros and there are cons.
You don’t need to worry about your safety in going to work. You’re home and you’re working. But you also need to make sure that you don’t sleep on the job or there are no babies beside you or there is no distraction.
Working at home requires a lot of discipline. You need to make sure that the room or area you choose will be conducive to working. There is not much of a difference between working in a regular office setting and working at home – you still need to be professional and do your job well.
